Dont Drop Glass

From the Physics Assignment Worksheet #1 there was a a problem that stated that gravity accelerates objects at about 10 meters per second squared. This got me thinking about a lot of different scenarios. How could this unseen force actually increase objects ability to accelerate. I've see many videos where they throw different things with different weights off a building and see which one falls first. But I never imagined the fact that they are getting faster as they drop due to gravity, I always thought it was the weight. It intrigued me so I decided to test it out and I tried dropping a glass cup from different heights. I started off with 1 foot to see if it would crack and worked my way to where i was standing on chair dropping the glass cup. It shocked me to see the cup actually increased its speed as it dropped. As you can see in my video when it is first dropped you can still see the cup. But around halfway it begins to be blurred, in a sense that the speed had picked up and can no longer be a visible object because my camera is not a super genius and cant focus it.

Suite Life

This weekend I got to stay at the fabulous Ala Moana hotel. Coming and going, up and down, the same escalator made me realized that a lot of science can be found behind such a common used transportation. My distance constantly changes as I go in and out of the elevator. Each time I enter and exit I go somewhere different or father. But as for my displacement, it did not change at all (maybe a few inches if you want to be cynical). I leave the elevator but always returned back to this spot even for a few seconds.

Fly Away

On this three day weekend I got the chance to go home, back to kauai. On the flight there I couldn't help but admire the beautiful view and realized that I am in motion even though I wasn't moving at all. Relative to the plane my motion was none. I was sitting in my seat praying to stay alive on this short thirty minute flight. Even though I wasn't moving in the plane I was covering a vast amount of distance in a short period. This is because relative to Oahu, it was moving farther away from me.
